EDUCATION ISSUES
The current issue of Beacon magazine www.fellowshiphall.ca features a one-page article by Phil Lees the Director of P.E.A.C.E. (Public Education Advocates for Christian Equity). He opens his article “Across the Province of Ontario, boards of education are implementing sexual orientation polices that mandate instruction in the homosexual lifestyle. …….
The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board passed such a policy in June 2008.” P.E.A.C.E. Hamilton has been formed in response to the policy. The goals are to inform parents about the policy, the potential affect on curriculum, and provide strategies and tools parents may use to share their faith and reduce the impact of the policy on their children’s Biblical Christian world view.
To learn more please visit the PEACE website www.peacehamilton.org for further details. Also; Home schooling: Ontario Christian Home Education Connection www.ochec.org , Independent schools: Hamilton Area Network of Independent Christian Schools www.hanics.ca . To assist families to communicate with the public school, P.E.A.C.E. Hamilton has developed a common communication tool entitled “Our Family’s Spiritual Values.” The form may be requested from P.E.A.C.E. Hamilton (plees@mountaincable.net), or downloaded from the website (www.peacehamilton.org).
